United Continental will become the first major U.S. air carrier to limit its lowest-fare customers to one carry-on bag that fits under the seat in front of them - not the overhead bin, which will be reserved for those who paid more.

The airline made the announcement in unveiling a series of new policies that it hopes will add up to almost $4.8 billion US in cost savings over the next four years.

Baloney! They meant to say 'Profit'.........

Sounds like a good time to buy stock in Delta, AA and SWA....... their load factors will be rising.

Maybe we should be charged for the smudge on the window from the last person's forehead too?

Thats as good as way of any to piss customers off even more than they are all ready.

I thought the new guy Oscar was trying to make United more client focused and a better deal for his be-rated company. Award winning crap like this will go a long way to meeting that goal.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse. Next the're figure out a way the pax will stand through the flight like being on a subway. Well there is a little nostalgia here. Remember the days of the open overhead coat racks, no bins, so whatever you carried on had to fit under the seat in front of you. Only thing is checking a bag was free. Ahhh yes the good old days. Come "Fly the Friendly Skies".

I have been done with United ever since their frequent flier club screwed me out of the return miles for a flight to London and they refused to rectify it.
